What Causes Nausea, Vomiting And Lack Of Appetite?

default
Posted on Mon, 17 Aug 2015
Question: I am a 52 year old woman, who for about a month has been experiencing nausea, vomiting, lack of appetite and lethargy. Initially I thought it was due to stress of job hunting (I've been out of work for 4 months). However, I wake in the middle of the night with nausea and end up vomiting stomach acid. I have no appetite for red meat, desserts, coffee, sodas, most veggies. Currently, I am eating yogurt (without fruits), boiled potatoes, some fish and chicken, iceberg/romaine lettuce, rice and melon. FYI...I have not menstruated in 6 years.

get yourself clinically examined and investigated.

Hi,
Thanks for writing your query.
After reading your post, I would suggest that you should get yourself clinically examined and investigated by your doctor.

3. Kidney Function Test ( KFT ).
4. Serum electrolytes.
5. Urine examination.
6. Ultrasound of upper abdomen.
7. Endoscopy.
You can take an antacid like Omeprazole 40mg once a day before meals along with Domperidone 30mg for relief from your symptoms.
Avoid spicy and oily foods.
Also avoid smoking and alcohol, if any. Maintain your hydration.
Further medical management can be planned according to the clinical evaluation done by your doctor and according to the reports of the above mentioned investigations.
