What Causes Nasal Congestion After Nasal Injury?

default
Posted on Tue, 13 Oct 2015
Question: I was hit in the nose with a basketball-- right between my eyes. After showering this morning I can breath through it, but I still feel "congested" and I sound like I've got a bad cold. Other than that and some tenderness to my nose I feel fine, so I'm pretty sure its not a cold.

Brief Answer:
This is due to the injury to the lining of the nasal cavity

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

It seems that although externally things have been fine, internally, the inner lining of the nasal cavity has been injured due to the impact and therefore congestion has occurred. Although you feel the tenderness, the 'congested' sensation is also related. You need not worry. Take steam inhalation. Water in the form of vapour will reach deep inside and help in clearing the congestion.

Hope that helps.
