Brief Answer:
Increase fiber, if required - later colonoscopy.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.

Looking at the query, my opinion is as follows:

1. Small quantity of mucus is normal. However, if associated with abdominal pain or diarrhea, stool examination might be necessary.

2. Due to excessive straining, mucosa is coming out.

3. If the fullness in rectum is since a short period, not to worry. Increase fiber in diet (fruits and vegetables). If fullness still persists, then a colonoscopy might be necessary.

No need to worry for now.

Watch out for:
1. Diarrhea
2. Abdominal pain
3. blood in stools.

Take good amount of fluids and increase fiber in diet. If you do not have any gas/abdominal bloating, you need not take pepto bismol or ginger ale. Change in diet is important and should be adequate.

Even after three days, following increase in fluids and fiber in diet, if there is no change, do get a stool examination and a colonoscopy done. Meet your doctor for this.

Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
