Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.

Obesity is definitely cause of concern but lymphedema of the leg is also contributing to body weight.
Thus, management of lymphedema is required.
Lymphedema can occur due to many causes.
The identification of underlying cause is essential followed by its management.
Treatment modalities are many like compression therapy, drug therapy, topical treatment, surgical treatment etc.
In addition, topical application of agents which prevent secondary changes on skin is also required.
A combination of these therapies is given on the basis of underlying cause of lymphedema.
Exercise and physical activity help in reducing the swelling caused by lymphedema.
You can get weight reduction techniques for your son even when he is 500 lbs.
You need to consult a physical trainer to plan a weight reducing schedule for your son.
Aerobic exercises are good in reducing weight so they should be followed initially.
You do not necessary require huge equipment for losing weight.
Besides exercising, diet also needs to be monitored.
Fats, refined carbohydrates, sugar, aerated drinks, canned & processed food should be avoided.
Diet should include plenty of proteins, fiber, fruits, vegetables and fluids.
The details can be discussed with your trainer.
