default
Posted on Thu, 22 Jan 2015
Question: My son is 16 and we just noticed a few lumps on his neck area that we hadn't noticed before . We leave for Disney on Sunday and our doctor is closed due to the holiday season. Could this be swollen lump nodes or something?

Brief Answer:
Possible upper respiratory tract jnfection....

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I am sorry for the situation your son is in.

The lump you felt on his neck might be swollen lymph nodes; especially if he has had flu like symptoms recently.

I advise to :

- give him anti inflammatory medications (paracetamol, ibuprofen, etc)

- monitor his body temperature; if it persist to be high for more than 4 days, should consult further with his physician as he might need prescription medicines

- OTC cold medicines are advised in case he has flu like symptoms

Wish a nice trip to Disney!
