Brief Answer: Need more answers. Detailed Answer: Hello, I have gone through your query and understand your concern. There are plenty of causes for left lower abdominal pain. Some common causes are peptic ulcer, diverticulitis, intestinal obstruction, irritable bowel syndrome etc. I would like to have few answers. Where exactly the pain is from your belly button? How much time the pain is there? Whether the pain is immediately after food or some hours later? Do you have any constipation or loose stools or vomiting? Is your stools looks black or brown or white greasy stool? For how many days you have these pain? whether the pain is radiating to anywhere else? Have you ever had similar problem earlier? Waiting for your response.

it is about 6 inches from my belly button It is just a sharp pain that lasts maybe,at most-5 seconds sometimes immediately, most times a bit later (1-2 hours) Bowel movements are regular and seem normal. this pain is everyday after eating. But the odd thing is, it is mostly in the evening and does not happen when I eat soft food like yogurt. I have never experienced this before. I should mention that I am on Janumet, Gabapenten,(only for sleeping because of the pain in my knee) & Cymbalta (sorry about spelling) This is just a sharp pain that sometimes takes my breath away.

Brief Answer: Gastritis or Peptic ulcer. PPIs and OGD test. Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for your detailed reply. I suspect you may be suffering from either Gastritis or Peptic ulcer. As your bowel movements are normal, You may not have any Irritable bowel disease or bowel obstruction. If you are my patient, i will prescribe Proton pump inhibitors like Omeprazole or Pantaprazole for a week or 2 weeks. If you have relief or decrease in abdominal pain, then it is a peptic ulcer. Further it can be confirmed by Upper OesphagealGastroduedonoscopy to confirm the ulcer or gastritis and where exactly ulcer is either duodenum or stomach or it is a just a inflammation ( Gastritis). I will recommend you rule out a bacterial infection called H.Pylori infection by Urea breath test and antibodies. If these tests are positive, then you need antibiotics in addition to Proton pump inhibitors. Hope this helps. Please write back for further queries. Wishing you good health.
