What Causes Lower Back Pain And Pelvic Area?

Question: Hi- I am going to be 60 in October, I have not had a period for almost 48 months- Friday, I had bllod on toilet paper and it shocked me- it is what it used to look like at the end of the period, the brownish color- then, Friday night, it was bright red, then Sat, Sun and Monday- I was bleeding about 2 cups of blood- today, it is a little slower- the first 3 days, there were a lot of blood clots, now they are one or two- also, before the bleeding, I had a strange canary yellow , gluey discharge- I have severe lower back pain and a lot of pain in my left pelvic area- last year, in March, I was diagnosed with small fibroid cysts- thanx for any help you can give me- I can NOT get the bleeding to stop-how can I get this to stop?

Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.

The bleeding that you are having s worrisome. It's not normal to have bleeding after 4 years. You need to consult a gynecologist for proper prescription medicines to stop the bleeding. .

Here is exactly what needs to happen:

1. You need a visit with your OB/GYN and an examination
2. During this exam they need to perform an endometrial biopsy
3. You then need an ultrasound to look at the ovaries and the endometrial lining

If the biopsy is normal and the 'lining' of the uterus is 4mm or less, then there is absolutely no concern for cancer.

Of note, the most common cause of bleeding after menopause is related to the 'thinning' and fragility of the lining of the uterus, followed by polyps of the uterus (which are common).

THANK YOU, so much! I started trying to get an answer from my health care provider (Kaiser) and ended up having to call the ER- I wrote to you a couple of hours ago and you put my mind at ease- in a short space of time- my sister had uterine / cervical cancer and is now suffering with HES- a rare blood cancer- my dad died of brain cancer and my mom had brain cancer- so, I do not believe I have cancer, I believe my family paid that price, however, I do not want to be risky-thank you, again, so much, Grace Garcia (I made an appointment with a GYN)
