I used to run marathons....cant even walk two hours or I get sick. recently I got clear bloody discharge from a nipple, and my breasts are still sore and tender. I had a lowgrade fever for weeks. I have these attacks nonstop and they put me on ativan 4 times a day. I want to be admitted to the u of m or mayo, inpatient, but the doctor just keeps sending me from specialist to specialist. this is taking forever and I am just feeling sicker wiyh no anseers. I also stopped having a period for 12 months and no matter how much I try to diet, my body resists to lose weight and I get attacks of palpitations and hypoglycemia. What should I do....

Brief Answer: ? Poly Endocrine Disorder Detailed Answer: Hello, Good day. Multiple symptoms which you mentioned, could be due to involvement of endocrine glands. Your symptoms are suggestive of problems associated with more than one gland.. The palpitations ,high Blood pressure and SVT etc could be due to adrenaline rush from Adrenal gland. The low sodium and hypoglycemia also could be due to problems with adrenal gland. Hypoglycemia also could be due to problems in pancreas gland. The nipple discharge and absent periods could be due to rise in hormone called PROLACTIN. In short, the multiple symptoms may be suggestive of a poly endocrine disorder where more than one endocrine gland is affected. You need a thorough examination looking for clues and also a series of blood tests +/- Urine tests. You need to meet an endocrinologist dear. Dr XXXXXXX Young Jr of Mayo clinic is an expert in adrenal gland and these kind of disorders, but any endocrinologist can fix this problem. I would urge that you get a referral from your GP to meet an endocrinologist ASAP . Please don't worry, there are effective medicines and treatment for these disorders. Kind Regards Binu

Brief Answer: Sometimes Detailed Answer: Hi, Thanks for writing back. Low sodium can cause problems. But depends on how fast it develops and how low the sodium is. It can create confusion, lethargy, convulsions etc it it is too low. Usually youngsters withstand low sodium quite well where as elders can have early symptoms. Again, low sodium developed over many days cause less problems compared to low sodium developed over few hours. regards,
