What Causes Low Hemoglobin Levels?

Question: My hemoglobin has dropped from 14 to 11 since my last test last year. I am under a great deal of stress for many reasons, mainly my husband who has advanced Parkinsons disease. Does stress/anxiety have anything to do with a drop in hemoglobin? I am not losing weight, I had a pretty normal colonoscopy a year ago with some gastritis and I don't have any bleeding problems. Could this be from stress?

There could be several factors leading to drop in hemoglobin including stress. However in order to help you I need more info

1. Are you taking any medication? Anti gastric medications? Please list out all the medications you are on currently
2. Are eating well? Is you appetite ok?
3. Was any iron profile done to check why there is anemia ?
4. Do you consume a vegetarian diet ?

I take 40mg of Omeprezole daily. I take 0.125 mg of synthroid daily.
I eat a pretty well balanced diet. My appetite is normal.
There was not an iron profile done.
I am not a vegetarian.

Omeprazole is known to reduce the absorption of iron causing iron deficiency Anemia. I suggest you to get iron profile done and also take iron supplements
