What Causes Low Grade Fever, Body Pain And Fatigue?

default
Posted on Wed, 18 May 2016
Question: Hi doctor,

Its almost a full week feeling fatigued, today i barely was able to wake up.

Symptoms -

tired
Fatigued
Low grade fever
Muscle and body aches
----------------------------------
No coughing
No sneezing
No sore throat
No vomiting
No diahrea

-----------------------------------
Someone told me it could either be FATIGUE SYNDROM or a COLD/FLU but how could it be a cold or flu without all the above? Could it be a cold in the bones and body due to weather change?
------------------------------------------
Two weeks ago i made a full lab and everything was NORMAL EXCLUDING a slightly low blood platelets due to an old CMV
NOT DIABETIC
NO VIRUSES
NO HIV
NO ABNORMAL BLOOD CELLS
-----------------------
WHAT COULD THIS BE ? and How can i fix it?

Why do i have a LOW GRADE FEVER, FATIGUE and BODY ACHES for almost 16 hours
no swollen lymph nodes
no stiff neck
no cold sores and blisters or skin breaks

EBV and CMV are not currently positive - labs show I HAD THEM BEFORE NOT NOW

Please help
Thanks
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Possibility of viral myositis is more.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Yes, this can be due to weather change.
But possibility of this is less likely because you are having mild fever also.
So in my opinion, you are mostly having simple viral fever and it's symptoms.
Viral infection known to cause myositis (inflammation of muscles). And this can cause muscle pain, fatigue, fever, weakness etc.
So better to drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated. Take anti inflammatory drug like paracetamol.
Application of warm water pad on affected areas is also beneficial.
You will mostly improve with all these in 3-4 days.
If not improving then get done repeat complete blood count (CBC) and CPK (for myositis).
No need to worry much.
It is common to have mild form of myositis with all viral infections.
But sometimes some viruses can cause more muscle inflammation.
So this is not dangerous. This can be easily cured.
Take combination of painkiller and muscle relaxant drugs (paracetamol and ibuprofen).
Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated. Apply warm water pad on affected areas.
You will mostly improve with all these in 3-4 days.

Yes, this is pointing towards diagnosis of viral infection.
You are having abdominal pain and loose stools.
Viral infection is the likely cause for this.
Infact viral infection (rota virus) is the most common cause for diarrhoea.

Yes i have ate outside 3 days ago a burger with its salad and sauce

Stool is semi solid and a bit of liquid

Yes it was foul smelling

No frequency so far but maybe because i have not ate for a while

Well ok now its frequent stool urges
If it is the rota virus as you said,

What should i expect?

How long is its life?

When should i be recovered?

Brief Answer:
You are mostly having rota virus infection which is causing all the symptom

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
So that burger is the likely culprit for your symptoms.
It caused you rota virus infection (mostly) which is causing you all the symptoms including malaise, weakness, fever etc.
So drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated.
Start oral rehydration solution (ORS) 1-2 liter per day.
Take probiotic drug for restoration of gut flora.
Avoid oily and spicy food. Avoid junk food like burger.
Don't worry, you will be alright.
Usual time for recovery in rota virus infection is 4-6 days.
So you can expect full recovery after 1 week.
You may have loose stools for 1-2 days more.
But no worries for this.
Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated.
Avoid oily and spicy food. Avoid junk food like burger.
Take prokinetic drugs.
Please let me know if you are having gastritis or not (means do you have burning sensation in stomach or burping or belching?).
I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks
