Brief Answer:
Yes you can get back to work.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for your follow up question.
The gastritis will take 3 to 4 weeks for healing . Its not infection. Its inflammation caused by gastric acid. Nothing to worry. The proton pump inhibitors can effectively treat this condition. You are already on treatment that is nexium. Continue for at least one month. It will heal.
Apart from what you are taking I would like to recommend the following.
1) Never take coffee or tea before breakfast in empty stomach.
2) Avoid spicy and junk foods.
3) Avoid skipping your meals. Follow regular timings.
4) Have your dinner 1 hour before going to bed.

Nothing to worry you will be fine.

What can be done to stop from having this problem? I seem to get it once things clear up, then it happens again, with a more severe abdominal pain situation.

Is this curable?

Answered by Dr. Paparaja S (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
Yes, this is curable.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your follow up question. I can understand your concern.
Nothing to worry this is curable.
I recommend the following measures to avoid recurrence.
1) Maintain a healthy weight.
2) Avoid spicy and oily foods.
3) Take bananas regularly.
4) Avoid sleeping immediately after your meals. There should be at least two hours gap.
5) Never take coffee or tea in empty stomach. As much as possible restrict taking coffee or tea. However ginger tea is good for you.
6) Avoid wearing tight clothes as tightness at waist can increase the abdominal pressure and leads to acid reflux.
7) Alcohol and smoking will aggravate this condition
Nothing to worry you will be ok. If you are happy with my answer you can close the discussion and rate my answer.

Thanks Doc. One last thing, does excessive stress affect this condition?

I have been under extreme stress for quite awhile. If stress can be a factor is there any relief for it?

I have tried the ginger root in hot water with some lemon when I had no voice for three weeks. My voice is still not normal, I like to sing and have a rather good voice, it is not what it was, any suggestions.?

Also, just lying in bed my couch does produce mucus as I considered your analysis I guess the post nasal sinus in continuing…..what causes sinus infections?

Seems like I just fell apart after taking all the vaccines, hooping couch, pneumonia , shingles, & flu, in later October. Any association with the sinus infection and gastritis?

Would any stomach coating medicine relieve the symptoms while the healing takes place?

Will my voice need repair or will it too, heal on it's own?

I am not sleeping at night. daytime has it's expected distractions, any thoughts?

Brief Answer:
Your voice will recover on its own.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your follow up question.
Yes , stress is risk factor for gastritis. You need to avoid taking stress. Meditation might help to relieve stress. Nothing to worry your voice will recover on its own. Drink adequate water, give some voice rest, don't rise your pitch of voice which can damage the voice box and affect healing. Just lying down in couch will not affect. The sinus infection is caused by viruses, bacteria, or fungus in air or water. Swallowing of mucus of sinus infection and medications used to treat sinus infections like antibiotics and analgesics can cause gastritis no other relation. Yes you can use sucralphate suspension which covers gastric mucosa and helps in healing and prevent damage from gastric acid.
