Question: I have met with an accident on 9th may 2014 and got right arm humorous fractured below the shoulder (by-sups). i was taken to the nearby hospital where the raw plaster was plotted and advised me to get placed the plates to adjoin the fracture. I was told to wait for the discharge summery but after three hours i found sensation loss in my fingures. I told the doctors for the same. the doctor asked me weather I have been checked pulse rate by any of the doctor before plaster. I said 'No'. He was surprised and sad immediately get off your plaster so that the further process might be started. i was shifted to OT and a five or six hours major operation for breakal artery repair was done which i came to know on the next day on 10th may found in the ward myself. the fixator was also placed to fix the fracture at one place. The dressing was done three times in my right arm
The next operation was done on 15th may for grafting my right arm to heal the wound. The left thigh was the donor part for skin grafting.
I was discharged on 24th May from the hospital and recalled many times in OPD. I was still left with fixator. The orthopedics Dr. told me on 16th XXXXXXX the callus is developingas seen in X-Ray. So no need to place plates and further operation. My question is- why the half part of thumb is in burning position and trigger finger is not bending upto the palm.

Brief Answer:
Due to nerve injury.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The loss of movement in the index finger and the burning pain in the thumb is due to nerve injury at the time of fracture. It seems to be a minor injury as there is no major loss of sensation.
It is good that a callus is seen at the fracture site. There is no need of further surgery. The external fixator will also be removed in next few weeks.
For the nerve injury you can start taking methylcobalamin supplements after consulting your orthopedician. This minor injury will improve in next few weeks.
I hope this answers your query.
