What Causes Lethargy, Lack Of Appetite And Low Grade Fever?

default
Posted on Wed, 28 Jan 2015
Question: My daughter (age 36) has not been feeling well for 5 days now. We thought it was just a cold, but she is very lethargic and sleeps a lot, very little appetite, 100 degree fever disappeared after the first 24 hrs, runny nose, occassional cough. She switched from Mucinex DM to Dayquil and Nyquil as of last night. We have a cool mist vaporizer in her room. There are 4 others in the house (including toddler) and none of the rest of us have any symptoms. The only other med that she is on is Nexium. Any suggestions?
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
seems to be common cold.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,
I can understand your concern .
Based on the information that you have provided I think you are right .It seems to be common cold. It is caused by viruses and don't need any antibiotics . Patient present with low grade fever ,fatigue ,malaise , running nose , sore throat, loss of appetite and occasional cough .
It will take about 5 to 7 days for complete recovery .
In the meantime continue with the symptomatic treatment that you are already giving to her.
Apart from this rest and plenty of oral fluid is important .
Hope this will help you . If you have any other concerns please feel free to message me . Thanks for contacting HCM .
