Question: Hi Doctor,
Please find below details of mine.
Name: XXXXXXX XXXXXX,
Sex: F
Status: Married,
Age - 34,
Kids: 1 Daughter -Age 1 year and 10 months.
Family History: Paternal aunt had already been diagnosed with Breast cancer years ago.
Problem: I have been suffering with hardness in right breast since last three weeks. However, I was undergoing with medical treatment of blister on my right nipple which got treated well 10 months before. In terms of the current lump in my right breast, it looks like growing gradually with silent pin pain in night hours mostly.
After one doctor's advise who is specialist in breast surgery, today I have got my breast ultrasound done (Report is attach). This lesion measures 62*41 mm in maximum dimensions. There are few small, cystic areas (largest measuring 20*15mm) with internal echoes seen. Liquefaction / pus pocket formation. And now he is emphasizing me to go for breast surgery after an MRI scan. Can you please let me know what should be my course of action now? Please advise, the nature of the problem and if in case I have no option but to opt for surgery, can this wait for 1 week?

Brief Answer:
Yes you can wait for 1 week.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for an elucidate history and reports attached.

To me too, this appears to be organised infected galactocele. By a typical arrangement of fat and tissues in the breast the organization ( formation of protective hard fibrosis is common in the breast to cordon off the rest of the body from infection. Hence you have got this hardness.
This is very unlikely to be a cancer in spite of history of cancer of the breast in family as the cancer does not grow so fast ( within 3 weeks). There are no nodes in the axillae ( armpits )

MRI scan is quite sensitive and specific in diagnosis as well as gives a great picture to plan the surgery , so please go ahead.

If you do not have any systemic symptoms like fever / chills, you can certainly wait for 1 week. There will be no problem at all. Continue the medicines as advised by your Doctor.

The old thumb rule is: anything which is not a part of the body should be removed for 2 reasons. 1 ) you get the disease out of the body and 2 ) You get a 100 % diagnosis by histopathology examination.

Nothing to worry at the moment. Consult your Husband and your Doctor about the further possibilities, disfigurement of the breast.

Wishing you a successful treatment and about the benign nature of the disease.
