What Causes Left Sided Abdominal Pain?

default
Posted on Tue, 22 Jul 2014
Question: I have been having pains in my left side every few weeks with this time round it being more noticeable and lasting days. I understand that it could just be ovulation pain but I haven't felt this before. This type of pain ache has been going on for some months with one dr saying I had torn a muscle which turns out I hadn't, now this pain is more painful this time around. The ache only ever happens on my left side, with a throbbing sensation through my left leg. The pain hasn't subsided at all today at times feeling worse. Also having flushes of nausea. Saw a dr and to which she didn't want to do a pelvic exam let alone feel around the area it was painful, put it down to ovulation pain. Can you help

Brief Answer:
May be Renal colic

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your query. Left sided abdominal pain can be due to ovulation or torn muscle. But renal colic cannot be neglected. There may be stone in left kidney or ureter. Pain due to this usually radiates down towards thigh. Pain can be severe sometimes leading to nausea or vomiting.

Better way to diagnose is by doing an Ultrasound of Abdomen. It will detect stones or any condition of ovaries or uterus. In the meantime during pain you can take Tab. Meftal spas.

Kindly revert back with the reports.
