What Causes Itching Throughout Body?

Question: I am 79 and itch from top of head to toes/so bad I can't sleep but can't get any help/dr. said try allegra but it
doesn't help! I have tried several medical lotions for itching. THERE is no rash except when I scratch/I have
also tried Benadryl capsules; helps but not enough for relief! can you imagine trying to put lotion/creams on
your body complete head to toe often?
my other meds are: mirtazapine/temazepine/advil gel caps
can you suggest anything I need sleep
