Brief Answer:
Proper evaluation for proper diagnosis is very important.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Female/44 - itching, swelling, blister formation on lower limbs - on standing or walking for a long period - has to lay down and wait for the swelling do down - watch the salt intake - high blood pressure...

The commonest causes are as follows:
- Varicose veins
- Added with anemia, hypo-proteinemia, hormonal imbalances includingthat of thyroid, renal problems and so on
- Some medicines like those for high blood pressure.

It is very important to know the exact cause/s of the problems you are facing and this is possible by the following:
- Color doppler examination of the lower limbs for varicose veins
- Test of blood for hemoglobin, sugar, kidney functions, serum proteins and as decided on clinical evaluation
- Clinical examination by a Doctor is also very important to know whether there is pitting or not, the skin changes and general examination and to evaluate if there is anything that is adding to the problems you have like some medication and or so...

Once the diagnosis is clear, it is easy to tackle the problem and get the results.
I hope this answer helps you, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
