This problem has been there for about a month. I take care of my husband who has the problem. It does not appear to be food related or hereditary. He uses adult diapers, and I have tried antibiotic creams. No help. He has several health problems including dementia and COPD. He is on oxygen. I wonder if it could be a yeast or fungal related problem. He did not complain at all about it, until it started to itch recently. Would Monostat help? Please advise. I shall contact his doctor's office tomorrow, but would like your opinion. He uses albuterol and an inhalant for his COPD also. He is on several heart medicines also. He takes Dilitiazem30 mg twice a day and X,arelto 15 mg. As it is difficult for him to leave home, I wish there were something to try before Taking him to the doctor, but want him to get treatment so he is comfortable. I love him dearly and don't know what to do. Thanks, XXXXXXX XXXX

Brief Answer:
Most probably fungal infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thank you for getting back with the answers. I have gone through them. There is high probability that its fungal infection. If i were your treating doctor then i would have advised following things:

- cetirizine one at night for 5 days
- topical ketoconazole cream thrice a day.
- keep area clean & dry.
- Do not let it remain wet.

If condition remains same even after 2-3 days then he would be requiring systemic management for which he needs to visit hospital

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing him good health !!
