Brief Answer: Looks like fungal infection , need pictures Detailed Answer: Hi I understand your concern regarding your skin problem and I hope I am able to help you in the same . Now from the description provided , it looks like you are suffering from a fungal infection of the groin region . Since you are diabetic too , so you are more prone to develop such infections . I would like to have a look at the exact skin lesions before we can be sure of the diagnosis . Please click some close up pictures of the skin condition and upload them here on this page . You can also mail them at YYYY@YYYY with heading as ref to Dr Geetika Paul . Also please tell what all medicines are you applying over the affected areas? Oral drugs taken for this condition? What are your current glucose levels? Are they under control with treatment? Do you apply any oil over the affected areas? I am sure I will be able to help you more once you provide me the above details and the pictures . Waiting for your response Dr Geetika Paul

Brief Answer: Recurrent fungal infection of the groin Detailed Answer: Hi again I have seen the attached pictures. You seem to have developed a fungal infection of the groin region, which is tinea infection. You should try to keep the groin region clean and dry . Do not apply any kind of oils or moisturizing creams over the groin region . Wear cotton undergarments inorder to reduce sweating.  You need to use an antifungal agent like  Clotrimazole gel over the affected area twice a day.  Also take oral antifungals like fluconazole like 150 mg once a week for upto 6 weeks.  And to relieve the itching, take oral antihistamines like levocetrizine once a day. Now the main problem in your case is recurrence. To prevent recurrence, make sure that your blood glucose levels are within normal limit. You can use candid dusting powder atleast twice a day in the groin region and the folds after completing the treatment as advised.  You can use this antifungal powder every summers so as to prevent recurrence. Also take the complete treatment as advised so that complete cure takes place. Hope it helps,  Please ask if you need any further clarifications Dr Geetika Paul  MD ( Dermatology)
