What Causes Irregular Menstruation When Diagnosed With Hypothyroidism?
Question: Hi, I have not had a period in 50 days. I usually have a regular cycle of 24 days. My thyroid was checked (I've had hypothyroidism since I am 25 but it is controlled) as well as the other fertility hormones and all came back normal according to my doctor. I am not anemic, have a BMI of 19, and have not changed my diet or exercise routine. No change in weight, no change at work either. I am having all other PMS symptoms but no blood. Should I wait to miss another period (3rd) before proceeding with more tests (ex: ultrasound)? My husband and I have been having unprotected sex for about 3 months now and are trying to conceive, but I am unsure whether I can be ovulating if I am not seeing any blood. HCG test is negative for pregnancy (labs done last Thursday). I guess I am wondering if I have to wait it out, or do something about it now.
Brief Answer:
Delayed periods
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I understand your concerns about delayed periods.
This appears to be delayed periods and not pregnancy.
Delayed periods could be due to various reasons like stress, change if place, excessive travel or polycystic ovaries.
These are normal events that delay the periods.
Hence I suggest you wait for some more time for periods to start.
Let me know if you need anymore help.
