What Causes Intermittent Swollen Fingers, Tiredness And High Cholesterol?

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Nov 2015
Question: for about 5 yrs now (shortly after my 4th (last) child was born).. my left middle finger swells on occasion.. it comes on rapidly, w/out warning & usually last several hours.. it looks like the vein is being pinched off, therefore causing swelling, it happens at the 1st & 3rd joints of that finger.. it hurts when it is swollen & I cant move it... it has only happened on that finger.. i have not been able to have a doctor look at it while it is swollen... I also have started sweating uncontrollably, going thru a cpl outfits a day & waking up at night overheating as well.. I have been to an endocrinologist who insists all the tests they did have come back normal, hormonally... I also had a cholesterol test done & have high cholesterol.. I am constantly tired, often needing an hour at some point during the day to rest.. & my body, like muscle-wise I guess, is sore constantly.. it is often a battle just to get housework done.. I excersise, not regularly, but frequently.. under-weight about 10-15 lbs.. 36 yrs old, white, female.. diet is decent.. could be eating more fruit..
I am pretty worried about my finger swelling the way it does.. sweating, soreness, & being constantly tired are just a huge annoyance

Brief Answer:
Could you attach reports?

Detailed Answer:
Good day,
Noted your concern and sorry to hear about it.
The swelling in finger doesnt sounds like a hormonal issue. It may be better to meet a rheumatologist to evaluate this further. May i suggest to get a blood uric acid test as well?

Tiredness could be from hormonal issues, but your endocrinologist has ruled out hormonal problems. I hope yor endo did tests for thyroid and cortisol. Could you attach the reports if possible?

It is a good idea to do a vitamin B12 level also.

Binu
