What Causes Infections After Sexual Encounters?

default
Posted on Sat, 15 Nov 2014
Question: hi Doctor, below is my history:

July 2013:
high risk sexual exposure with prostitute [WORST DAY OF MY LIFE]
[had unprotected frottage (rubbing penis with vagina) + protected sex]

Sept 2013:
fungal infection in inner thighs (treated with fluconazole cream)
XXXXXXX 2014:
Pulmonary TB . removed 2 liters of pleural fluid from left lung.
lost 6kg in 2 weeks. fever for 2 months.

Sept 2014:
fungal infection(??) rashes on waistline, underarms, belly, elbows, thighs.
i have been to 2 different dermatologists for these rashes who gave two different diagnosis for the rashes.
one diagnosed this as wheat allergy (gluten allergy)
the other diagnosed this as fungal infection. However, i am taking antifungal tablets and ointment for over 15 days now, still NO EFFECT!!

other symptoms:
1. PERSISTENT soft/loose stools and diarrhea since last 3 months.
2. PERSISTENT sore throat since since last 3-4 months.
3. lower back pain, general fatigue and cold.

As you can see, after the sexual exposure, i have been getting infections all the time!!
So, ever since I got TB, i am terrified that I have HIV and taken all kinds of tests:

Rapid tests, Elisa, pro viral DNA, RNA viral load, Combo(ag+ab) tests, Western blot test.
I also tested for VDRL, HBsAg; 7 months after exposure.

I took these tests from XXXXXXX 2014 to Sept 2014 (in 6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13 months after exposure)
ALL TESTS ARE NEGATIVE.

Still confused and terrified, i took the cd3/cd4/cd8 tests:
Feb 2014 (cd4= 531, cd4/cd8 = 1.69) (taken in middle of TB infection; in MORNING time)
Jun 2014 (cd4 = 950, cd4/cd8 = 1.84) (taken in EVENING)
Jul 2014 (cd4 = 901, cd4/cd8 = 1.42) (taken in EVENING)
Oct 2014 (cd4 = 685, cd4/cd8 = 1.65) (taken in MORNING)

Now doctor, i have following questions:

1. I am living in hell because of all these infections and HIV scare. I just don't know what i should do. Can you please advise me something? Should I keep testing for HIV?

2.I want to get tested for other STDs as well. Can you please give me test names?
3.My cd4 count is also fluctuating wildly. though on the lower side. Is there any other virus like HIV which can damage the immune system? Is there any research going on this?
because i strongly suspect, some virus has entered my body after the sexual exposure. and i don't know where to go. i have lost all hope of living and frequently get suicidal thoughts. i am ashamed of myself and never want my parents to know i have HIV.

Brief Answer:
No HIV infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I went through your query and understood your concerns.

First try to clear your doubt of HIV, As tests all are negative you are not suffering from HIV infection. We can defnetily say as your repeated tests are negative.
You need not have to repeate HIV testing in future , if there is no further exposure.

Most of STD do manifest with in month of exposure, so STD tests are not much useful.

There is no other virus found which can be trasnmitted through sexual contact.

CD 4 counts do fluctuates with slight variation which is common.

First you should come out of fear of HIV.
Follow healthy life style- mind relaxing exercises, mingle with your friends and involve yourself in some activity.

Hope I answered your query. Feel free to ask further related query.

Wish you a good health.

Regards
