What Causes Indigestion, Bloating, Belching And Stomach Discomfort?

default
Posted on Thu, 19 May 2016
Question: I have been having indigestion, bloating, feeling a need to belch, and discomfort in stomach for the past several months. prior to that I had no indigestion at all.. except during pregnancies. my doctor retired within the past year and I have yet to find an MD. the discomfort is beginning to affect my lifestyle. overthecounter meds have not helped although Nexium did for a few weeks then I heard it has been linked to Alzheimer's. which both my parents had so I'm not taking that. my question is should I be concerned about these symptoms or is this signs of aging?

Brief Answer:
Supportive symptomatic care, ignore dementia worries, yet to be proved

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Your symptoms are just of gastric discomfort ( acid reflux and/ or gastritis (. Age related decline in bowel functions and increased weight leads to these IBS like symptoms. You just need supportive care, symptomatic remedies and diet and lifestyle medications. I would suggest you to take omeprazole for 8 weeks at least and ignore the association between dementia / Alzheimer and the medicine as the study is yet to be validated and there are many confounding factors that can cause this dementia.

Meanwhile, eat small frequent meals, avoid spices, stimulants, soda, beverages, alcohol, processed and canned foods, overeating, dairy products, fatty foods, eating junk foods of all kind. Prefer food rich in fiber and natural food and consider more fluid intake. Exercise regularly for 35 to 45 minutes. Delay lying down on bed after the meals. Keep the head side of the bed elevated.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Khan
