What Causes Increased Vaginal Discharge During Intercourse?

Posted on Thu, 21 Jan 2016
Question: Im 31yr, mother of 2 boys.

Im having a lot secretions which makes me uncomfortable and it increases more during intercourse which makes my husband uncomfortable.

Ive done a normal swab and pap smear swab which came up negative.

It was recomemded to freeze the cervix with carbondioxide (cryo) to clear the cervix from these secreations. And it is recomended to do it direct after my period.

My 1st question is:
My next period is due on XXXXXXX 16 so lets say the cryo might be done on the 23rd of XXXXXXX
Is it safe to conceive on march which is 7 weeks after the cryo is done? Or i sould give more time for the cervix to heal?

My 2nd question:

Does cryo affect fertility?

Brief Answer:
Yes, you can conceive 6 weeks post procedure

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
I will answer your questions in the order you have asked.
It is safe to conceive after 2-3 months after the cryo procedure on the cervix.
Cryo generally do not affects the fertility by itself. But if it causes infection and fibrosis in cervix, which is quite rare after this procedure, the fertility can be reduced.

Will the cryo reduce the secretion ??
Do you recommend me to do it? Or just to wait and conceive on march without cryo

Answered by Dr. Deepti Verma (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
Not recommended

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
If the pap smear is normal, then cryo is generally not recommended.
It is better for you to complete your family and then plan for any cervical surgery.
