What Causes Increased Urination, Itching At The Urethra And Slight Bleeding?

default
Posted on Thu, 23 Nov 2017
Question: A few weeks ago I had to go more than usual but never felt relief after going. I never experienced pain or fever, but an ungodly itch in the urethra. It felt like something was stuck up there and sitting was uncomfortable. Suddenly on 10-4 I peed blood. It was clearly red, but each time I went it was less. The sample I gave the dr was labled straw. RBC was large, WBC was large, leucocytes 26-100, bacteria few. Attending was skeptical that it was infection, but gave anti-biotic. It did help after the third pill but attending and primary are still skeptical of infection. I don't myself really cause I've never had an infection there before.

Brief Answer:
Can often be seen in women of your age.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. The raised leucocyte count confirms the presence of Urinary tract infection. Urinary tract infection is a likely cause that is often encountered in females of your age. Such an infection can be confirmed by getting urine routine microscopy with culture sensitivity done. Please upload the complete report and I would guide you accordingly. In case of such an infection you need to drink plenty of water. Treatment with appropriate antibiotics would make the infection resolve. Do not worry, anybody can get such an infection. These bacteria are a normal flora of our urinary tract. When their number increases beyond a particular level, it leads to such an infection.

Let me know if I could help further.

Like I said, the problem did get better. I suppose I should've added that kidney cancer runs in my family. I don't know if it's necessary to see a urologist but my primary and the attending physician think I should because the culture was negative.

Brief Answer:
The described episode relates to an UTI

Detailed Answer:
The present finding of increased pus cell count does not relate to kidney cancer. However, periodic follow up would be advisable to facilitate early diagnosis if ever such a thing develops.
