Brief Answer:
G/I ratio is more for obesity and PCOS

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX, hi! welcome to HCM. as far as i am aware, glucose insulin ratio tells us about insulin resistance. 4.5 is taken as cut off. < 4.5 is abnormal and suggestive of insulin resistance. it is done in obese girls more for PCOS. in underweight what they were looking for may be ruling out insulinopenia? may be hyperglycemia and shift of metabolism to fats? a ketotic state? regards!
