What Causes Hot Flushes At Night With History Of Hysterectomy?

default
Posted on Wed, 21 May 2014
Question: I am a 46 yr old female. I had a hysterectomy 15 yrs ago, partial, still have ovaries. I have had some health issues recently, and during all of this, I started having flushed, hot flashes at night. This prompted me to visit the OBGYN who ordered blood work for me to determine if possibly starting menopause. I won't be back to see him for awhile to hear what he thinks is the problem, if any. I do have my test results and wanted to know if you could give me an idea if this seems like pre-menopausal, post-menopausal, or non-related to menopause. My results are as follows: Foll Stim Horm 84.5, Prolactin 2.3, Estradiol 19, TSH-3rd Generation 1.44. Can you help in any way? Thank you.

Brief Answer:
the hormone results suggest menopause.

Detailed Answer:
Dear member,
Thanks for writing to healthcare magic.
The results indicate that the ovarian function has markedly decreased. Increase in FSH levels Are indicative of menopause due to less ovarian hormone secretion.

FSH LEVELS as yours (84) are definitely indicative of menopause.
The others hormones are within normal range.
Considering the fact that you had hysterectomy you can discuss with your doctor hormone replacement therapy for hot flushes.
Please write back if you have any queries.
Thanks
