What Causes High Elevated Platelet Count?

default
Posted on Mon, 29 Sep 2014
Question: Dr. XXXXXXX
I had asked you about XXXX platelet being high and whether it had anything to do with the medicines he had been prescribed.
we have got his lithium test and report says serum lithium level not detectable
I am going to attach the report. would like to know what does this mean?
Is it that there is no lithium and he needs to have the drug to get the proper level ?
He had earlier been taking the following medicines for the last ten years
Given once a day at night since 05/10/2004
Tab Lithon 300mg
Tab Biotol 200mg
Tab Psydol plus 1/4

Should we revert back to these medicines ?

Regards
Mrs. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
high platelet count is not related to drugs.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I see that you are looking for dr XXXXXXX XXXXXXX

Regarding this query, I agree with him.

Neither of these medicines lead to increased platelets.

Possible cause is post operative infection or overhydration in post operative time.

if he is not having any symptoms, then wait for few weeks and then go for repeat test.

No need to worry.

Please continue to take those medicines.

still have a query then feel free to ask.

Happy to help you.

Thank you.
Take care.

Brief Answer:
Hi find detail answer below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I said that Niether of this drug lead to elevated platelet.

How can I say you start past regimen without knowing his symptoms??

Undetectable lithium level is due to lower dose of lithium.

Does he take it regularaly??

For how many days he is not taking it while test has been done??

Choices of medicines is depend upon his clinical symptoms and I do not know what are the symptoms that he has.

so I m giving answer of your query about platelet count and it is not related to lithium or its level in blood.

so if you revert back to those drug then consult your psychiatrist who gave this medicine or revert back to me with brief history of his illness.

Thank you.

Hope I able to answer your concern.

Brief Answer:
Hi find detail answer below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I have undergone all the reports.

it is very difficult to read all this from report because of handwriting. And it contains only drug name.
I will tell you more better if it contains symptoms and illness history.

But I can only say from it that if he has similar features now as before then you can start same drugs.

but in psychiatry it would better if you consult proper then it will proper way of treatment.

If you start again then doae titration require slowly with monitoring.

start appropriate treatment and hope for the best.

Thank you.

pletelet count gradually rise by time and it is not dpends upon this drug therapy.
