What Causes High Cholesterol, Reduced Appetite And Discomfort In Body During Pregnancy?

Posted on Mon, 5 Oct 2015
Question: Hello! After having my son, I've been struggling to lose the last 20 pounds. I'm 38, 5'7 and 175 pounds. I'm so uncomfortable in my body. My breasts have grown so much...they are like a "G" now. My dr. ran all tests and it showed that I have very high cholesterol. I think it was 317. So now I'm on meds for that and she also prescribed me Belviq. I've been on it for 5 days...I had no appetite the first 2 days, but now it's back. However, I still track all of my calories and eat between 1200-1500 calories per day. Today the scale said I gained 4 pounds. Is this normal??

Brief Answer:
Suggestions 2 tests

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I am Dr Mittal. I have read your message. I think I can help you.
The fact remains that in pregnancy, these hormonal changes occur.
They are there to prepare the body for breastfeeding.
The weight gain is common during this phase.
Don't worry.
Once you are done with the breastfeeding, most of the changes slowly regress.
Of course, you need to increase the level of your physical activity levels as of now if you want to continue to maintain the weight for now.
Pure dieting won't help.
It will help you with the dyslipidemia also.
I suggest testing FBS And TSH also.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information contained in this message will be able to help you find the best solution for your problem. Best of luck. Dr Mittal.

My son is a year old and I didn't breast feed...

Also, I had both of those tests just last week and everything was fine.
