What Causes High Blood Pressure?

Question: Doctor XXXXXXX
Thank you for your follow up.
I have been back home in th UK for a week but have to wait until the 19th XXXXXXX to see my own doctor. Such is the current service we have.
My BP remains up and down which I have just checked at 165 over 95. However a couple of days ago it was 136 over 85.
I did have a fall last evening which shook me up and bruised me. (Not the drink)
I have a guitar which substitutes for yoga.
One symptom I have had for a couple of years is the feeling of a hot head. It comes later in the day but not when I sleep. I sometimes think it appears after the consumption of carbohydrates.
Thank you for your interest.

Brief Answer:
need to revise BP meds & evaluate blackout

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Its good that you are in a comfortable environment now- at home.
you mention that your BP is on the higher side compared to previous readings; so, at present I would sincerely advice that you take a combination of anti hypertensives or may be take it tiwce a day for better control. This itself can be one of the reason for feeling heaviness on top of head.
You have a good relaxation measure in form of guitar- but do you play it daily?? If not, then you should do so.

I can understand that it is difficult there to see a doctor as one need to..but its good that you have fixed for an appointment.
You should get more BP readings , may be twice a day at fixed timings for few days and show them to the doctor. This will be helpful in deciding which drug is best.

You had an episode of blackout. This should be evealuated. Ideally it is recommeneded to get a CAT scan of brain after such an episode to rule out organicity. Another important investigation at your age which will be helpful here is ECG.
You should get them before meeting the doctor or if you want to wait, you should definitely discuss it with him and proceed further. This is not to be ignored.

I hope the reply is useful.
Wish you good health.
