What Causes High Acidity In Stomach?
Question: I have high acidity in my stomach . The doctor gave me 2 months supply of Controloc 40 mg. After 2 months , I stop for a week m experienced hunger even after 2 hrs after meals . Can I continue with Controloc indefinitely?

1. There are various causes to high acidity in your stomach:
- gastritis
- GERD
- ulcer
The right diagnosis is determined by upper endoscopy. So, it is necessary to know the right diagnosis first and then continue with right treatment strategy.
2. Controloc 40 mg is a PPIs (proton pump inhibitor) which is used to treat hyperacidity. However, the duration period is based on the basic diagnosis.
To my opinion, as the symptoms started after stopping Controloc, then, you should restart taking it again for a few more weeks to up to 3 or more months until symptoms are completely controlled.
3. Controloc alone cannot help you too much. It is necessary to:
- make healthy changes in your diet in order to avoid those foods that would trigger/aggravate acidity
- be more physically active
- take antacids after meal
Altogether they will help dominate hyperacidity problems.
