Brief Answer:
Bleeding not likely from the exam

Detailed Answer:

Hello and thank you for your question to HCM.

I am sorry that the exam was rough and occasionally you can have some blood in the urine from a prostate exam if it is infected.

However, if the doctor looked into your bladder and could see where the blood was coming from then it was not coming from the prostate but was coming from inside the bladder.

This is concerning for bladder cancer and is why your doctor wants to schedule a surgery right away. If it had been from the prostate then the doctor would have been able to tell that when he looked into your bladder.

Let me know if there's any thing further that i can help you with.

I wish you the best,
Dr. Robinson
