Brief Answer: infection Detailed Answer: Hi and thanks for the query, From yoor symptoms it lookks like you have throat infection. If your symptoms have been present for more than 1 week then you will probably require an antibiotic. Penicillin group of drugs work best for upper respiratory tract infections. You mentioned that your ears are heavy, it is possible that your eustachian tubes are blocked. The eustachian tubes connect the back of the nose to the inside portion of the ear. Infections of the nose and throat frequently cause the tubes to get blocked. If the tubes remain blocked for too long then the ears can get infected. You should see a doctor to rule out an ear infection and for a prescription of antibiotic for your throat infection.Till then you can do the following - 1) Use decongestant nose drops like otrivin. Instill 3 drops in each nostril 3 times daily for 5 days and follow it up with steam inhalation everytime. 2) Warm salt water gargling 4 time sdaily. 3) Plenty of warm fluids. 4 litres per day. 4) Avoid cold foods and air conditioning. 5) Blow balloons and chew gum , it helps to open the tubes. Regards, Dr Rajkishori Godhi. You mentioned that you have skin allergy, so it is possible that you have allergic preisposition of the upper respiratory tract as well. People who have allergies are also more prone for infections also.
