Brief Answer:
HEAVY EXERCISE CAN LEAD TO UNEXPECTED PERIOD.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

1) Sudden starting of moderate exercise (stretching or skipping etc) may lead to change in Hypothalamus- Pituitary- Ovarian Axis, causing hormonal imbalance and unexpected menstrual bleeding in some percentage women. It will overcome with the time when your body is adjusted properly.

2) TREATMENT: I suggest you to take Tranexamic Acid group of drug to arrest heavy bleeding if it continues more than 4 days. Maintain genital hygiene.

For stomach cramp (Dysmenorrhea), Drotaverine or Dicyclomine can be taken. It helps to reduce pain instantly.

3) If abdominal pain and and heavy bleeding continue beyond 7 to 10 days, I suggest you to consult with local GYNECOLOGIST for clinical examination and necessary investigation like pelvic ultrasound scan etc. It would help to rule out underlying uterine pathology and proper treatment can be made accordingly.

4) You should stop exercise until period stops completely. Take healthy diet and drink more water to stay hydrated. Avoid stress and take adequate rest.

Hope, it helps for your information. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any other query.

Wish your good health and take care yourself.

Regards,
Dr S Patra
