Question: I am diabetic for almost 20years. Quite under control HbA1C has been around 7. Changed recently to Janumet (sitagliptin phosphate & meteor in hydrochloride ) 50/1000mg, morning & evening. My middle finger on the right leg has developed heaviness and of late little finger on the same leg also experience some pain. Doctor has prescribed PRAGASTAR PLUS replacing Meganeuron OD Plus. Brief Answer:
Right choice, common side effects invlude sedation

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,

Welcome to HCM. I have gone through the question and understand your concerns.

The doctor has prescribed the medications for painful diabetic neuropathy- a disease of the nerves to your legs due to long standing diabetes.

The medications that we use for this condition are pregabalin, gabapentin and amytryptillin. Your doctor has started you on pregabalin, which is a good choice.

The side effects are many for all the above mentioned medications. The common ones for pregabalin are giddiness/sedation, constipation, problems in urination, dryness of mouth etc.

Hope I have answered your questions. If you have any further queries I will be happy to help you.

Regards,
