Posted on Sat, 7 Jun 2014
Question: Hello.. My name is XXXXXXX I have been having headaches for several months. I have been to the eye Dr.,., sinus Dr. Dentist. . Still no answers, This pain sometimes starts in one eye, then travels to spot areas on my head. Most of the time I can locate the source area with my fingers. It is right above my ear lobe, sometimes both sides. When I push on this area it hurts, almost relieves the pain of the headache for that period of time. But the pressure point is painful...Does this sound familiar to you and do you have any suggestions. I am so exhausted with this. Thank you.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. The following conditions may cause such symptoms:
a. Temporomandibular Joint Disorers (TMJD) including Costen's Syndrome.
b. Trigeminal Neuralgia.
c. Parotid salivary gland problems.
d. Myofacial pain or fibromyalgia.
e. Migraine, cluster or tension headaches.
f. Referred pain from the Head & Neck region.

2. Many of these causes overlap. have you had dental work done recently? What are your blood sugar, calcium, vitamin D and uric acid levels? Do you have bruxism (grinding of teeth)? DO you chew your food mainly on one side? You should seek a Neurologist's opinion.

3. Painkillers for Neuralgia's differ from routine musculo-skeletal painkillers. Request your physician for a trial.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
