default
Posted on Sat, 15 Nov 2014
Question: Hi doctor, I am currently working in an MNC and my work include 99% computer screen. before joining this job (my ist) my eyes were like eagle but slowly and gradually i started to loose my sight and hence went for eye check up. now i use glasses and cant see things which are far. the issue here with me is that my eyes hurt most of the times when i see screen and without glasses i get headache. i feel strong irritation, i feel like i will eventually loose my sight. when i blink i feel my eyes ball as stones and can feel them in my head. a feeling of contraction is always there in my eyes. i also checked 3 times for my number (eye) and that is correct because i can see things clearly now.

can it be the pressure of eyes which happen in the old age due to some rise of water level, i am not sure?

Please advise.

Brief Answer:
It looks like dryness of eyes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care magic.

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.

I reviewed your history. It seems from the history that you are having refractive error, for which you are using spectacles and you are having symptoms of irritation, headache....
Since your work involves use of computers, first thing I would like to rule out is
Dryness of eyes induced by over use of computers called as computer vision syndrome.
The treatment for this condition is by use of artificial tears eye drops. The precautions to be taken are
Avoiding continuous use of computers by taking breaks in between. A break of atleast 5 minutes is required after working for continuous 2-3 hours.
Use of anti-glare coated glasses.
Avoiding use of fan or air conditioner where ever possible.

Coming to your question of whether it can be because of increased pressure called as glaucoma.
It is not likely in your case. Glaucoma usually starts after 40 years of age. Hence in your case I would like to rule out and treat first computer vision syndrome and if still the symptoms persist we need to look out for other diagnosis.

Hope the information is helpful to you.

Thank you
With regards
