Question: Hello, i have a daughter that is almost 7, she has has been having one issue after another for a long time now, She has been having mental issues as well as medical, in the last couple of years she has had recurring viruses such as strep, flu, cold, ear infections, bladder infections, yeast infections, acute bronchitis ,inflammation in her eyes and Headaches, most of the time she is not even over one before she gets another ,she also has asthma, allergies and JIA. Mentally she has been suffering from hallucinations, hearing voices, paranoia and extreme bouts of anger , she is currently in a Psychiatric residential treatment facility, she sees alot of specialists, however they are all just focused on what they specialize in and to me it seems like it should be connected some how, is there one or two things that could cause all these systems no matter how rare it is?

Brief Answer:
Supportive management has to be given.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone very carefully through your query and understand your concerns. Many children frequently suffer from viral infections and the mentioned symptoms are just associations. There are a couple of things to be done. You have to give her all sorts of colourful fruits and vegetables. They contain plenty of antioxidants which should help in boosting her immunity. She also needs to exercise regularly and you would need to talk to a physical therapist about the exercises that are right for her.

Urinary tract infections also often occur in children. In case of recurrence it is better to get a DMSA scan done in order to rule out any structural anomalies that could predispose her to such infections.

The JIA is independent and needs to be dealt separately. Regular medication can keep it in control.

The psychiatric ailment would be more concerning and unless they are dealt with properly. I am sure that the doctors at the residential facility would take care of it.

I do not find a common thread and hence no common cause behind. The frequent infections are often quite commonly seen in children. Giving steam inhalation during those occasions should provide relief. Water in form of vapor reaches deep inside and helps in diluting the cough and thereby provides relief.

Regards
