Brief Answer:
Interstitial cystitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,

This is generally caused by urinary frequency syndrome, also known as interstitial cystitis. It is a condition of the bladder associated with a need to urinate frequently and urgently. There is no unknown cause, but some speculate that it is related to disruption of the lining of the bladder from mild infections, irritants such as tobacco, alcohol, or urea, autoimmune diseases, or allergic reaction in the bladder. Some people will also complain of pain or discomfort in bladder just prior to the need to urinate.

Urologist are the experts in this field - you should probably see one to get a cystoscopy which is when they look in the bladder with a camera. The other associated causes of urinary frequency are UTIs, bladder cancer, bladder stones, and sexual transmitted diseases. You will need a urinalysis and blood work for general screening. The urologist will be able to look into the bladder with the camera and make sure there are no tumors, stones, or signs of infection. He can then provide medication to help with the urge and frequency.

In the meantime, I would recommend changing your diet because so people do get urgency and frequency relief which is most likely due to irritants in your diet. Common irritants include caffeine, chocolate, citrus, tomatoes, carbonated beverages, potassium-rich foods, spicy foods, acidic foods, and alcohol.
