default
Posted on Mon, 11 Jan 2016
Question: For a while now I've had a problem with having to pee a lot. I went for my yearly gyno checkup last month and ever thing was fine, but lately not only do I have to pee a lot but even right after I pee my bladder still feels full and this morning I woke up with lower back pain and light lower abdominal pain (similar to pms) but I've recently had a period. What could be causing this and should I see a dr?

Brief Answer:
It could be infection, diabetes

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
Welcome to HCM,

Increased frequency of urine could be due a number of reasons which need to be ruled out. It could be due to urinary tract infection, diabetes, excessive fluid intake. Since you feel that your bladder is still full even after passing urine it could be related to infection.
Do you have any vaginal discharge, itching, burning sensation while passing urine, or inability to control urine?
You need to get a blood test to check for fasting blood sugar and postprandial blood sugar, to rule out diabetes, also so a urine routine microscopy and if it shows infection urine culture sensitivity.
If you have a vaginal infection you will also need a vaginal swab for culture and sensitivity.
Also I would like you to maintain a bladder diary for 3 days, noting down how much of fluid input and output you have every 24 hours.

Hope this helps.
Regards.
