Question: I am on candesaretan for Afib and urinating a lot , I am 62 years old. I have had prostate tests which were benign, Any ideas why I am urinating abou every hour duing the day and maybe 2-3 times at night

Brief Answer: Symptoms are due to Benign Enlarged Prostate. Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for your query,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have increased frequency of urination and nocturnal frequency of urination (Nocturia). These are the presenting symptoms of enlarged prostate. which is ageing process. Urethral passage passes through prostate gland .As the age advances the size of the prostate gland starts to increasing in size resulting in to compression of urethral passage (Urethra) which in its tern results into incomplete emptying of the bladder during micturition and some amount of urine remains in bladder what is called as residual urine .There is continuous addition of urine from the kidney and bladder gets filled with more urine resulting in to pass urine frequently.This is the reason for increased frequency of urination. Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and further treatment ,He will decide regarding further treatment either by medicines like Tomsulocin or surgery ( TURP).
