What Causes Frequent Urination And Dull Pain In Testicles?

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Apr 2014
Question: Hi, For last 1.5 months I have a problem of frequent urination and dull pain in testicles. I had done all tests and ultrasounds but found no problems. Doctors have told me that I might have overactive bladder but I don't know if this would result in any pain. I have been on medication for overactive bladder which seemed to have helped but pain is still there. I would like to mention that my wife and I are trying to be pregnant and therefore frequency of sex has increased over last few months. Can that be a reason for my pain and should I avoid doing the same for some time? Will this affect my fertility. Please suggest...

Hello Doctor, Thanks for your response !! I have attached my urine and ultrasound reports to the profile. Moreover I had ultrasound done for scrotum in USA which came out to be completely normal. My Semen test results were communicated to me by doctor over phone. He had mentioned that count was around 80 million and motility was about 40% I currently don't have access to both above mentioned reports. Waiting for your response !!!

Brief Answer: Overactive bladder may not cause pain Detailed Answer: Hello, Thank You for consulting HealthcareMagic! Gone through your report and query. SO, your main concern is: Can that be a reason for my pain and should I avoid doing the same for some time? Will this affect my fertility? I do not think that your overactive bladder problem is causing pain. And it also does not effect fertility. I also think that even your frequency of sex is not causing these things. Do not worry about these things regarding fertility. Sperm motility is slightly lower than normal, but it may not be a big problem. Discuss about that with your doctor. But, I advise to get your doctor to rule out other possibilities for the pain you have mentioned. That includes epididymitis. Stay healthy and thank you for consulting! You can contact me again anytime, if you need clarifications or further assistance in future. Kindly rate the answer if you are satisfied.

Hello Doctor, Thanks for the response !!! Urologists here in USA has ruled out the possibility of epididymitis. He did the physical examination for the same as well. It seems that the problem gets little worse after sex(which made me think that this might be because of it). Moreover tip of my Penis always remain Wet. Could overactive bladder be the reason for the same? Moreover I would like to understand is over active bladder can happen all of the sudden and is this curable? Does it usually gets worse with time? Are there major side effects in taking overactive bladder medicines for long term(Oxybutin). Waiting for response !!!

Brief Answer: Pain during or after sex is not by this Detailed Answer: Could overactive bladder be the reason for the same? Pain during or after sex is not by this. Wetness at tip of penis may be due to this. Moreover I would like to understand is over active bladder can happen all of the sudden and is this curable? 1 in 6 adults have this kind of problem. Symptoms vary in degree. Bladder training treatment is most useful than medicine. Discuss about this with your doctor as well. Treatment varies based on severity of symptoms including surgical correction. Does it usually gets worse with time? If proper treatment is done, No. Are there major side effects in taking overactive bladder medicines for long term(Oxybutin). Acid or sour stomach belching drowsiness dryness of the eyes, mouth, nose, or throat are most common side effects but will not occur in all individuals. Stay healthy and thank you for consulting! You can contact me again anytime, if you need clarifications or further assistance in future. Kindly rate the answer if you are satisfied.

Thanks for the response doctor !!! I have few set of last questions- 1. Should I take ibuprofen for few days for testicular pain or is there some other medicine I should take? 2. How long should I wait with such pains (now that all my reports have come normal) to get it retested? 3. I have read at places that I should cut down on water as I have overactive bladder. Is this a true statement?

Brief Answer: No specific diagnosis is established regarding you Detailed Answer: Hi, 1. Should I take ibuprofen for few days for testicular pain or is there some other medicine I should take? I cannot comment on prescription of these drugs since today’s research indicates that a move toward individualizing the dosing of prescription agents is warranted and it can happen only after physical consultation / Your doctor will know about these drugs. 2. How long should I wait with such pains (now that all my reports have come normal) to get it retested? No specific diagnosis is established regarding your pain as of now. Based on physical exam finding, your doctor would further investigate and evaluate and then only specific treatment for this pain can occur. Until then, symptomatic treatment with pain killers will be done. 3. I have read at places that I should cut down on water as I have overactive bladder. Is this a true statement? This only helps very temporarily and not advised in all individuals. But, the actual treatments are bladder training, medications like Oxybutin and surgical treatment based on severity of symptoms. Stay healthy and thank you for consulting! You can contact me again anytime, if you need clarifications or further assistance in future. Kindly rate the answer if you are satisfied.
