What Causes Frequent Urination After Kneecap Surgery?

Question: I just came back from a hospitalization to repair a fractured kneecap. While in the Hospital and the day after I noticed a frequency and urgency of urination as did my room mate. No pain when peeing but bothersome frequency. This was not listed as a possible side effect of the surgery but I did have about six or more bags of saline solution intraveneously both days. Is this a possible side effect of the intravenous fluids?

frequency can be increased due to excessive intravenous fluid which is more than our normal fluid intake.
urgency can be associated or can be due to weakness of perineal muscles.
wait till you finish your iv fluid.
