Brief Answer:
Exact cause is not known.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
Usually first trimester miscarriage occurs due to chromosomal abnormality.
Sometimes there is no cause to find out.
In your case, it may be hypothyroidism that is a cause of miscarriage.

Advice for you to prevent future miscarriage-
- Plan your next pregnancy after 6months to one year.
- start taking folic acid daily at least 3 months before conception.
- Maintain your thyroid level with in normal limit before, during and after pregnancy
- get your TORCH test done to rule out viral infection( cause of miscarriage)
- eat healthy and balanced diet
- do some yoga, meditation and exercise and maintain your weight
- get your husband semen analysis test done
- when you plan for next pregnancy please contact your doctor and get your examination done before conception and take regular checkup during pregnancy.

Hope I have answered your query if you have further questions I will be happy to help you.
Good luck.
Regards
Dr. Richa
