Posted on Thu, 5 Jun 2014
Question: Hi,
I am 26 yrs old and have an epileptic seizures since the age of 17. I was under eptoin 100mg (night - 3 times) and Levipil 250mg (morning - 1, Night - 1) . I gave birth to a baby on Oct, 2013 and I was advised this medication dose since 7th month of pregnancy. My weight was 67 kgs at the time of delivery and it got reduced drastically to 60kgs last month. Since then I have been getting frequent headaches and I am not sure if this is related. My doctor advised me to take paracetamol, but still my head-ache is not going away. Please advise.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the
Dear Ms XXXXXXX

Being a mother myself I understand your concerns and problems well.
First and foremost let me reassure you things can be taken care off.
Pregnancy and lactation are very stressful . Following childbirth mother has to be on her toes feeding the baby on demand (literally mother is always on call 24 ×7 ), putting the baby to sleep, diaper change and other care. Mother sometime tends to neglect her health.
Migraine and headache are known to worsen especially during lactation due to lack of adequate sleep, diet on time and other stress related factors.
I would suggest you the following which will definitely help
1. Ensure regular intake of meals: Skipping a meal or postponing it even for 15 to 30 minutes may worsen/precipitate headache
2. Ensure good sleep: Sleep whenever the baby is sleeping, when baby wakes up she may not allow you to sleep
3. Avoid watching television/mobile for long hours
4. Tablet Dolopar will be helpful
5. Coffee: Even though coffee is not routinely recommended but it definitely benefits headache
6. Warm water bath: Taking thrice a week warm water head bath will be helpful
7. Avoid strong perfume and strong light

I hope this would be useful

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Take care
