What Causes Food Stuck In Throat Feeling, Fever And White Coating On Tongue?

Question: I am 26, female. Had this feeling in my throat, like something was stuck and scratched when I swallowed with pain in my ears. Went to see a doctor. It was a weekend and he prescribed augmentin. I asked for a swab test but he said it could only be done on a Monday and to start the antibiotics. I didn't take them because I know the test would then be probably false. Instead I gurgled with salt water. The next two days I had a slight fever and then by Monday all seemed ok. The next week the feeling came back again, no earache no fever. This time I looked into my throat and saw this white stiff looking tongue like at the back of my throat. I compared it to pictures and came to a conclusion it was my epiglottis. I saw a different physician. He ran a blood test and said I have a bacterial infection. He put me on augmentin and asked me to see the ENT. I got to see him after 4 doses of the antibiotic. He told me to continue taking them and prescribed allergy meds as well as eucalyptus for inhalation. 6 days later I still see the epiglottis. I feel like half of my throat is not fuctioning. Like saliva goes down on only one side. And that that half is more stiff. Apart from that, I have no other symptoms and there is no scratchy feeling when I swallow.
I'm not really sure what it is I have or what to do next. I also think I infected some other people around me. Though all they have complained about is a sore throat.

Brief Answer:
Difficult to diagnose on your own.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for your query.

I shall make an effort to provide you with good professional recommendations specific to your questions.
Based on the information it sorts to be upper respiratory tract infection. I would have asked you to continue salt water gargling. It usually will be viral and would resolve own its own. It is difficult for you to diagnose on your own as epiglottis. I would suggest you to use strepsils lozenges.
If you have still doubt you can consider taking second opinion from other ENT specialist.

Yet again, I duly appreciate your query to me, I do hope that have found something useful to help you and I shall be glad to answer any further apprehensions.

Sincerely,
