What Causes Fluid Blister On Penile Shaft?

default
Posted on Sat, 5 Apr 2014
Question: Hi, two days ago I noticed a small (maybe 1cm wide?) single clear fluid blister on my penile shaft when I went to the bathroom. I was curious so I gently rubbed my finger over it and it opened up and a small amount of clear fluid came out....i barely had to press on it at all. There were no other blisters present, it did not hurt at all, no blood or pus, and no redness around the blister either. I cleaned it up and immediately went to pharmacy to buy antibiotic cream and blister band aids to cover the area. Later that night when I showered, there was no pain unless I stretched the skin around it. I've been covering the area and applying antibiotic cream for past two days and it looks like the area is healing slowly...I'd hate to have a scar haha. I will attach picture of what the area looks like after two days of treating with antibacterial ointment and covering with blister bandaid. I had sex, oral and vaginal intercourse about a week ago and used a condom (except for oral), but I masturbate frequently as well. Could friction or trauma to the penis due to masturbation cause a single, painless, small, fluid filled blister? Or should I get tested for an STD sooner than later...? I have no other symptoms of herpes or any other STD, and am in good health. I was thinking it could've been an ingrown hair because i had shaved several days prior, and my hair grows pretty thick so i usually get ingrown hairs, but typically those look more like pimples and have some pain associated...this one didn't.

Brief Answer: masturbation can cause this Detailed Answer: Hello The most probable cause appears to be friction due to masturbation. Vigrous masturbation can cause such situation. Photograph is not suggestive of an ingrown hair or herpes. For now no tests are required. Keep applying the antibacterial cream. Don't worry there won't be any scarring. Lesions on penis heal very well. Let me know if you have any other doubts. Thank you

Thank you so much for the quick response! I'm assuming you would you suggest waiting for it to fully heal until beginning sexual activity or masturbation again?
