default
Posted on Mon, 24 Apr 2017
Question: my pulse has been racing off and on (158) when I exert myself ......then it will revert ....and blood pressure drops....now 89/46/108. I had an ablation procedure Oct. 2016 and thought I was doing so much better
with atrial fib and high pulse that was previously taking me to ER......I would like to go out shopping today but wonder if I will pass out.......it is the weekend and I do not want to go to ER. I am 86 years old female.

Brief Answer:
Don't worry Ma'am

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to HealthcareMagic,

I can understand your concern. Fluctuating pulse rate along with low blood pressure is a common scenario in Atrial fibrillation patients.

In approximately 5 to 10 % of the patients, AF reverts back even after successful treatment with ablation which probably could have happened in your case too.

As your blood pressure is on the lower side I would like to suggest you to reduce the dose of losartan and lasix. I would also like to know how was your heart function on your last Echo-cardiography report?

I understand that you don't want to spoil your weekend by going to a hospital/ER for evaluation but Ma'am health should come first. It's advisable that you should consult your cardiologist personally for proper evaluation as your medication should be adjusted under your doctor's supervision.

I would also suggest you to get/repeat few tests like:
-12-EKG
-ECHOCARDIOGRAM
-SERUM ELECTROLYTES
-PT/ INR LEVELS

I hope this will help.
Feel free to ask if you have any other doubts.

Wish you good health
