Posted on Tue, 7 Jul 2015
Question: I fell down and banged the right side of my head about one month ago. I needed 15 stiches on top of my right eyebrow. My head and forehead have been numb ever since but I am now experiencing face numbness and mouth numbness along with constant watering of my left and right eye. I am wondering if this nerve damage will heal if it even is nerve damage

Brief Answer:
Nerve injuries will recover if the nerve is damaged.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic.

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an Ophthalmologist and I will be answering your question.
I reviewed your history.
It seems from the history that you are having numbness of face and watering from the eyes following injury to the head.

Most of the nerve injuries will present with these symptoms and nerves are known to regenerate and recover almost completely. The only exception being when the nerve is totally cut.
The use of vitamin B complex group will help in this recovery. Hence no need to be worried.

But once evaluation by radiological investigations like Xray or CT scan is required to rule out any fracture involving the facial bones and to look for any pressure effect from any of the fractures over the nerves.

Hence please do send me reports of any investigations with you and medications you are using now so that I can answer accordingly.
