Question: hello...I am wondering what could cause a person to feel exhausted and of fuzzy thinking even though a very complete blood test and a sleep test show the person to be in very good health . when waking in the morning the party feels tired and could go back to sleep but in this case the person must in fact get ready for work. over the past six months. she works out every morning at 5am for one hour. She has been caregiver for a son who was a clef baby and is now 20 years old. He has had over 25 operations and is now very near completion.

Brief Answer:
gastroesophageal reflux disease

Detailed Answer:
Hi

The cause of a person feeling exhausted and tired when waking up in the morning although complete blood test and sleep test is normal could be due to gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

Acid reflux causes the body to partially awaken from sleep, even when there are no symptoms of heartburn. The result of this silent reflux is fitful, uneven sleep, but when she wakes up digestion is complete and she cannot tell why she slept poorly.

I will advise her to not to eat for at least two hours before hitting the sack, and avoid acid causing foods in her evening meals such as alcohol, chocolate, heavy sauces, fatty meats, spicy foods, citrus fruits and tomatoes.

Certain medications, particularly aspirin and other painkillers are hard on the stomach and esophageal lining, so i will advise her not to take them just before bed.

I will suggest her to sleep on the left side.

If she prefers to sleep on her back elevating her head and shoulders can help.

Losing weight can do wonders to banish heartburn and acid reflux.
